Belapur!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 28, 2007 by pensivelawyer

Earlier this week, right at the beginning (on Monday) to be more precise, i had to head to the Hon’ble Divisional Joint Registrar’s office for a matter. This place is located at Konkan Bhavan, beyond even Belapur, right at the other end of the city! I had to reach there at 11:00 a.m. for a hearing which was likely to go on for no longer than 30 minutes (after it was called out).

So, me being the careful and conservative lawyer that i am, left office by 9:45 and managed to make good time there. Managed to make it there by 10:45…..only to find out that the Officer had not come to work (or something to that effect)! He was in Pune and was likely to come back only on the 2nd of March!

Here i was stuck in a quandry….the High Court order, the one which required the particular officer to re-hear the matter and pass a fresh order, required him to do so before the 1st of March 2007. Luckily i had a copy of the said order which i showed to the Officer’s P.A. (yeah, P.A.!!!)

Now he gets all excited and animated. Bcoz of course his boss is not gonna like this at all. Plans are plans and he’s due back only on the 2nd. NO way in hell he’s gonna wanna come back earlier to hear me talk my nonsense for 30 mins max!

So he talks to his boss who is obv quite miffed at the thought of returning into office only to hear me blabber….and finally, i am told to remain present on the 1st afternoon. As it turns out, the Boss is coming back specially to hear me!

And poor ol’ me has to trek into the wild once more tomorrow, this time in the afternoon heat. Sometimes, it just sucks being a lawyer. Most times, it ROCKS!

Hope ye guys are having a nice week thus far.

I was burnt out. Working myself into the ground, in the hope of rising faster and flying higher. A contradiction of sorts isn’t it?

Anyway, waking up daily at 5:45 a.m. for yoga and then heading into a regular workday…add to that a healthy mix of gym days and you got yourself a recipe for disaster. Hell, i’m in bed by 10:30!

And then, as a ray of light peeps through a clouded sky, i saw my ray of light!…..GOA! A sudden burst of enthusiasm sees the gang heading into the land of beaches, babes and booze. It was a plan that came up suddenly…….. planning dates, flights, hotel and people….all done within 3 hours.

And now, the thought of Goa makes me light headed. I actually look forward to that 5 a.m. flight, yes, you heard right – 5 A.M. and i have no doubt that i shall return, recharged and rejuvinated, to drive myself into the ground some more.

Life is a contradiction!

A laugh!

The baton has passed. Melody – unbeatable queen of the kissing faux pas, has managed to do the unthinkable. Let me elucidate.

Until now, the couple of blog meets i have attended were small, last minute affairs and were, well, limited in their scope and reach. You had to know someone who knew the host(ess) else you had to be in touch with one of the avid bloggers (makes them sound like a species na!!!) for a phone call as to when and where they would be meeting….such as our last meeting at Hard Rock or the one before the at Mel’s house.

THIS TIME, Mel outdid herself by designing and posting a unique invitation on her blog. Now, the invitation was public and the onus shifted unto us common mortals to accept and show up and the chosen venue being Soul Fry.

The outcome – one hell of a blogger’s party! – No better way to describe it. It was chaotic madness and an organisational nightmare. Need verification?….just ask Sakshi! The poor girl couldn’t get anyone to sit. Nor could Ideasmith for that matter. Better sense prevailed and they both gave up!….lol

Melody assumed the role of the hostess and organized the venue (more like warned them). I believe that the early birds were evicted from the space that was reserved for us as they were making too much noise (gee, isnt that a surprise) and the rest of us were forced to sit outside (non airconditioned area). Luckily for us all, it was a beautiful evening!

I showed up along with Querida and TJ. Unfortunately we reached a li’l late and couldnt meet some of the early birds.

Just about managed to catch up with a leaving Shiju Thomas who absolutely refused to have a drink with us (what is this world coming to!). Nothing of THAT sort for Vulturo who was as usual in his element and blamed his current dry spell (of posts) on work (like that ever stopped us!). Got to meet Abhishek who interestingly enough was involved in India’s space programme. Ok Ok now thats a rather vague description…..ask him if you wanna know more!

There were a number of others who unfortunately i wasn’t able to talk to as i had to leave early. All in all, one hell of a meet. Congrats to Mel for seizing the initiative. Cheers!
