What does life teach you?

Posted in Uncategorized on March 7, 2010 by pensivelawyer

Does it teach you never to take this security blanket for granted? Does it teach you to respect what you have now for if its gone, you may live to regret your loss?

Or does it teach you to take life as a game….to be played with no regrets….as we do a simple game of monopoly?

Each of the above situations have their own respective pro’s and con’s. Its up to us to choose an available option and then, face the consequences. I guess the difference is the smile with which you take the decision and the consequences that arise therefrom.

Life is only as serious as you want it to be…. :)

and we can’t go back again.”

Judgment day

It always comes. You cannot escape it. The only question is, will it take you with it?

Some powerful words i came across over dinner tonight.

Make no judgments where you have no compassion” – Anne McCaffrey

Stuff

Yeah….stuff.

Thats what you write when you don’t know what you want to ramble about.

Flew into Delhi earlier this morning and the usual feeling of pensive-ness hit me whilst on flight. I usually counter that by reading my papers and gettin ready for arguments or even newspapers and mags but sometimes, just sometimes, its ok to let it soak in and enjoy the somberness. Today i did that.

Flying home from a long day at work can be an enjoyable experience. Phones and Blackberry switched off…..plane cabin dark after a quick dinner……and the joy of flying into Mumbai…..the lights as one sees the city approach.

All in all, a wondeful moment that never misses to bring joy!

I’ll see you soon Mumbai.

Hahhahahahah

Its funny when you actually read through the stuff you have written over time and wonder how and why you ever would have written that in the first place!

Whats not funny is when you realize that time is truly a healer.

The lesson learnt: Enjoy your now. Your ability to process your ‘now‘ will ensure that tomorrow brings you smiles.

I miss writing

Posted in Uncategorized on February 16, 2010 by pensivelawyer

Of course i do…its just that, with such a hectic life, the few minutes a day that i usually found myself before a computer with the ability to express myself have gone for a toss. Add to that i started writing a lot of stuff for the legal journals etc.

The result: I miss writing….i miss expression….i miss a lot of things…..but i am here and now is the moment that i need to get by…..and get by i will….

Dont you just love the sweet breeze we have?

And just when you think that you’ve reached your limit….and the only thought on your mind is the feeling of sweet peace you will feel when your head touches the pillow….life will make sure that you are able to hold out for that much longer.

Its at that moment that ONLY you can push yourself ….

Goodby IPL

Posted in Uncategorized on March 22, 2009 by pensivelawyer

I am not a cricket fan. Whilst i do enjoy a batsman sending the ball into orbit just as much as anyone else, i do not believe that life begins and ends with cricket. The IPL was something i was looking forward to, not just for its entertainment value but also as something that keeps our economy moving.

The world is in recession and we in India, though shielded somewhat, are clearly suffering. Growth had rapidly declined and we are spluttering. Something like the IPL is just what the country needed…..to ensure that we dont splutter to a stop…..and to jumpstart it.

The IPL makes people spend…it makes the economy move….it consists of tons of money changing hands….and is something that the Indian economy is in dire need of. The ripple effect of this event is huge! Travel, entertainment, tv, advertising, food, beverages – it transgresses all sectors and revitalises India.

The confusion and lack of clarity in the stand taken by the various state governments finally culminated in the IPL being moved outside India….its plastered all over the news. We Indians lost our jumpstart.

Why? Because some politicians didnt have the political will to provide security. Because the few who did were made to withdraw it. We all know that the worldwide cricket calendar is something that is planned way in advance and given the number of international players, its something that is integral to the IPL being played at this time of the year. No other dates would do.

Then comes the other question. Are the elections not important enough to warrant cancellation of the IPL? Of course – we Indians have to choose our leaders dont we?

The actual question is – wasn’t the IPL important enough to save somehow? We all saw Lalit Modi pleading with the governent(s) and being extremely flexible to play around with the schedule (atleast to a reasonably point, beyond that – there’s not much even he can do!)  Yet the Government refused to budge.

In an economy that is spluttering, where we all are crying for more work and pushing hard to ensure that we stay on the path of consistent and strong growth, in my view, the IPL was something we ought to have saved.

Think about it

Posted in Uncategorized on March 14, 2009 by pensivelawyer

I finally did it……hit the gym with a vengeance……It was so overdue…..i had let myself go…..and now, its time to reclaim myself…..

Sometimes, when it becomes too much to handle, it all right to let go…..its allright to throw your hands up and tell the world to fu%k off…..cause you need your space.

And then when you find yourself, you find the lost energy within you….you’ll find exactly where you left off and you’ll find the energy to push on…harder and further…..

I’ll see you sooner.
